'Splosion_Man_coverThe Summer of Arcade has been in full swing with the release of Twisted Pixel Games’ ‘Splosion Man. At only 800 Microsoft Points, this title features a boatload of fun, features, and a ton of replayability.

‘Splosion Man is a side-scrolling platformer, with amazingly creative levels, which are almost puzzles in themselves. Armed with only the explosive power of his body, the character you control is a cross between the classic video game character Strider and a mini nuclear bomb.

To get through the game’s 50 levels, players will have to navigate horizontally as well as vertically but jumping, wall-jumping, riding elevators, and with clever uses of explosive canisters that act as launch pads. All the while, players must avoid traps that crush or douse (with toxic liquid, of course) ‘Splosion Man. Each level is populated with scientists who are themselves easily exploded, but are armed with a litany of mechanical defenses such as stationary guns, missle launchers, and robot guards. There are several conveniently-located checkpoints throughout each level, keeping frustration at bay.

Some of the other challenges of the game, aside from just getting through the levels, is to collect the hidden cake in each level, and to complete the levels in the quickest times possible. The achievements are definitely worth playing the game over for, since Twisted Pixel decided to offer players avatar clothing and a theme for rewards!

With a four-player co-op mode, and a really creative take on the traditional platformer, ‘Splosion Man is a MUST BUY. Download the trial today on the Xbox Live Marketplace and see for yourself!
