With yesterday’s Wall Street Journal report, it is looking increasingly likely that we will be seeing a 3D motion camera for the Xbox 360 platform during this year’s hugely anticipated E3.
But without the right applications, this device ( and maybe you) could fall flat on its face (much like the Vision camera failed to shine as a useful gaming interface). So here are the top killer apps we think Microsoft should absolutely release with the 360 motion camera:
1. Martial arts game: Think Bruce Lee style movements. Better yet, think nunchucks.
2. Panzer Dragoon: This time, you’re the dragon! Wait a minute, so maybe holding up your arms up doesn’t sound like the best idea, but a shooter on rails in a 3D space does sound enticing.
3. Star Wars 3D: A role-playing game set in the Star Wars universe, complete with lightsaber duels would just be for starters. Now imagine force gestures (“These aren’t the droids you’re looking for”) and a lightsaber-building mini-game.
4. Sports: Boxing, Baseball, Golf, Hockey, Lacrosse – any sport you shake a stick at. Just make sure you have ample clearance in the living room – you don’t want to break that vase!
5. Driving games: Imagine how cool you can be with an invisible steering wheel? Better yet, how about driving and shooting a weapon at the same time?
And because we know Microsoft wants a piece of that mainstream market pie, here are some choices for the casual gamer:
1: Platformers: Now you can hop, skip and jump your way to fun…literally.
2. Dress Up: We admit it, we love our Avatars, and playing paper dolls with avatars using gestures would be rather addicting. Just give us more clothing options to work with, Microsoft!
3. Puzzle/Maze: Set in a 3D space – think Operation meets Labyrinth meets Tetris where you push and pull objects out of a maze without touching the walls.
4. Yoga: Forget Wii Fit – a game using the 3D camera will tell you if you have the right pose, not just whether you’re balanced.
5. NXE dashboard & application navigation support: “Minority Report,” here we come! We just need the cool power gloves and body suits. Or not.

Sure, “NXE Minority Report” would be nice!
And how about a “Guitar Air Hero” or “Drum Air Hero”?

Wow, nice!
“1: Platformers: Now you can hop, skip and jump your way to fun…literally.”
What about an “Air” Megaman? Or an “Air” Mario? Yes, you’d have to jump on the enemies heads XD
(OK, its Nintendo’s, but who cares?)
Waiting for the “NXE Minority Report” too!

Hey, very good ideas!
I was wondering how nice would be an RTS game based on gestures.
You could move the camera around or select your troops just with gestures.
